"Live adventurously. When choices arise, do you take the way that offers the fullest opportunity for the use of your gifts in the service of God and the community?"

Quaker Meeting for Worship at Friends House, London

Welcome

This is the website of London Quakers: a resource for Quakers in and around London, and for people interested in finding out more about Quakerism.

London Quakers

Maybe you have some involvement with Quakers elsewhere in the world or in the UK, maybe you have some involvement with London Quakers already. Our aim is to keep London Quakers in touch with one another across the boundaries of the seven Area Meetings, and to give London Quakers a voice in addressing the wider world.

There are about forty meetings across London. Most meet for worship each Sunday, some more often, some less often. We aim to be able to tell you something about each meeting in that meeting’s own words. Any of them will be glad to see you whenever you come.

Outdoor Meeting for Worship at Speakers Corner

31 Aug 2008 | 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Meeting for Worship at Speakers Corner takes place on the last Sunday of every month. It really is a special experience to worship out of doors in a place of stillness, whilst surrounded by the bustle of activity that takes place here.

Spirituality, Creativity and Mental Illness

27 Sep 2008 | 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Susan Mitchell and Isabel Clarke

chair: David Saunders

Mental illness lies behind much poverty, inequality and crime.
• Why do we not grant adequate resources to meet the need?

• How do we overcome fear, ignorance & lack of public sympathy?
Creative expression is now seen as a royal road to mental health.
• What is the evidence that the spiritual has a role in healing, too?

Eating our Planet to Death? - Quaker Concern for Animals

Animals reared to be eaten by humans are the second biggest cause of global warming. So claimed Tony Wardle, director of Viva! at the Quaker Concern for Animals AGM at Friends’ House on 10 May.
