Refugee Council Gala Concert Appeal for Child Refugees

Monday, 15 January, 2018 - 19:30 to 22:00

fundraising concert being put on to the benefit of the Refugee Council Children’s Section, at the Royal Festival Hall on Monday 15th January 2018.

'A Child of Our Time' will be conducted by Edward Gardner, recognised as one of the most talented conductors of his generation. He will conduct multi award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Then, four of Britain’s most celebrated singers join choir and orchestra to perform Tippett’s 'A Child of Our Time'.

Written as a response to the atrocities of World War Two, this extraordinary music recognises the power of oppression while ultimately offering a message of hope and reconciliation.

All proceeds from the performance will go to the Refugee Council’s work with child refugees: unaccompanied children arriving in Britain having fled conflict, trafficking and persecution.

Tickets start from £15 and are available to be purchased from the Southbank box office.

Address:
Royal Festival Hall
Cost:
£15 upwards
